Pecan History
Did you know that the pecan is the only tree nut native to North America? The exact origin of pecans is unknown, but some scientists believe they were cultivated by Native Americans as early as 2000 BC. Lucky for us, Spanish explorers who came to America in the 16th century brought pecan trees with them and planted them around New Mexico. Nowadays, pecans are grown in many countries across the world, including the United States, China, Brazil and Argentina.
